Senior hero Nandamuri Balakrishna has finally made up his mind to step into active politics.

He told the media in Vijayawada on Saturday night that he would contest the assembly elections in 2014 from any suitable constituency on behalf of Telugu Desam Party.

"Very soon I will take a plunge into active politics. I will contest the next assembly elections from whichever constituency the party high command will decide besides campaigning for the party. It may even be in Telangana," he said.

Balaiah, however, made it clear that he would not make the mistake committed by Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi. "He has made a hasty entry into politics and is now struggling to get out of it. And unlike Chiranjeevi, I will continue to act in films despite continuing in politics," he said.

As a precursor to his political entry, Balaiah began touring Krishna district. He was given a rousing reception at Gannavaram airport by his fans and TDP activists, who led him to Vijayawada in open top jeep on Saturday evening. He is expected to unveil his father N T Rama Rao's statue and address a meeting in Vijayawada on Sunday.
